We implicitly recognize that timing is everything.
As Al Pacino taught us in Any Given Sunday, a half-step too early or too late changes the entire outcome of a play. And on a grander scale, we have seen many of our best propositions or efforts wilt because our timing was simply off.
Timing is a major component of our lives, and those that do well seem to possess a sixth sense about it.
Furthermore we recognize there is a time to rest, a time to learn, a time to contemplate, and a time to get to work. Solomon captures his thoughts on timing today in Proverbs 10.
Simply put, taking the appropriate actions demonstrates wisdom.
Unfortunately, we go fishing all too often during the harvest because we can't recognize the season. As a result, we over exert ourselves when we should rest, we rest when it's time to press, and we fail to experience balance and peace in our lives. What we need is discernment.
Understanding of the 'seasons' is gleaned through introspection, mentorship, and prayer. Three intangible items we seldom make a priority in our busy schedules. Perhaps better grasping their value we will provide them their due deference.
Let us take to heart the wisdom of this proverb and realign ourselves with the 'harvest' season. I can only imagine what we reap will increase exponentially.
