The Contrary Disciple is a blog that seeks to provide direction to those dissatisfied with the 'christian' status-quo.  We aim to cast off the brand of the sweater-vest Christian who disassociates from society and only engages with those who are like-minded. Instead we aspire to live in this world and experience life as Jesus and the disciples did: interacting, loving, and challenging those in their proximity.  From that sense we analyze the scripture for truth and attempt to serve up a weekly practical application for digestion.

It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after your own; the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.
