At Contrary Disciple we seek to provide practical direction to those dissatisfied with the limited Christian status-quo. We submit that a viable alternative exists to the 'sweater-vest' Christian who disassociates from society and only engages with the like-minded. Instead we aspire to live in this world and experience life as Jesus and his disciples did: interacting, loving, and challenging their family, neighbors, coworkers, and even opposition.  From that perspective we study the scripture for truth and attempt to serve up practical application for digestion.

It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after your own; the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self Reliance
